Endowed gifts are held in perpetuity and the principle is never spent; instead, it’s invested and part of its average annual investment return is used for the purposes specified by the donor. The endowment serves as a source of permanent financial support, allowing donors the opportunity to attach their (or another’s) name to a specific program that holds special meaning to them.
