Project Build!

Program Overview

Project Build! is a program of JFS in partnership with Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan that provides JFS clients with safe and barrier-free homes through pro bono repairs and renovations provided by local builders, remodelers and suppliers. Recent projects have included the replacement of a broken step that could cause great injury to an older adult, a new roof, installation of a working toilet; and a full handicap accessible bathroom remodel for a wheelchair-bound woman.

The most recent project was a complete modular home remodel for a woman who is hearing impaired. This special project was supported by a grant from The Home Depot Foundation. The Home Depot Commerce Township store associates completed the job as a Team Depot project. Eleven of their employees volunteered their time to replace flooring, lighting and appliances, paint walls, and make the house into a home.

Community Partners

The Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan is YOUR non-profit advocate for the construction and remodeling industry in metropolitan Detroit and southeastern Michigan. Our membership includes builders, developers, remodelers, property owners, and suppliers to the single family and multi-family residential construction industry

Through Team Depot, an associate-led volunteer program, The Home Depot Foundation provides opportunities for associates and suppliers to contribute their home improvement know-how to create meaningful impact in communities. Home Depot associates across America roll up their sleeves every day to work on community projects. In 2010, Team Depot completed 1,600 projects across the country. From building dozens of wheelchair ramps in one day for disabled senior citizens in Altamonte Springs, Florida to renovating the home of an 82-year-old Marine Corps veterans in Seattle, Washington, our associates work with local nonprofit organizations to use their home improvement know-how to make a difference in the lives of thousands of deserving families.
