Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

JFS Volunteer programs reflect the needs of our community. Want to make a difference? There is something for everyone!  Here are ways you can help:

Friendly Visitors

Volunteers are matched up with a homebound older adult who is seeking companionship and support. Many volunteers visit on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, either at the client’s home or taking them out to lunch, shopping, or other outside activities. Click here for volunteer application.

Legacy Corps Enhancing Lives

Jewish Family Service (JFS) has partnered with Legacy Corps in a National Service opportunity and is one of 20 such programs in the country that help give additional support to those in need. Our volunteers will establish lasting relationships with JFS clients, caregivers, and families by simply providing the gift of companionship and assisting with daily tasks. Hospice Volunteer

JFS volunteers assist Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network professionals to help patients and families during this difficult time.  They provide consolation and assistance to chronic and terminally ill clients and their families. Volunteers help patients maintain their dignity and enhance their quality of life throughout their remaining days.  Volunteers make regular visits at home, or in the hospital or nursing home.  Click here for volunteer application.

Prescription Assistance

Volunteers help members of the community who have no prescription coverage by enrolling and maintaining them on Patient Assistance Programs through the pharmaceutical companies. They coordinate all correspondence between clients, doctors and pharmaceutical companies to ensure medications are received in a timely manner. Volunteers must have strong computers skills and be very detail-oriented. This volunteer opportunity is based at our Oak Park site. Click here for volunteer application.
