Donate Professional Services

We work with many professionals in our local community, providing services to those in need.  If you are a professional and would like to volunteer your time, here are some ways you can help:

Physicians — Project Chessed

Project Chessed is a referral network that coordinates access to health care for medically uninsured Jewish adults.  All care is donated by a large network of hospitals and individual providers.  If you are a medical professional willing to see a limited number of screened pro bono cases each year, contact us at 248.592.2324.

Lawyers — Legal Referral Service

The JFS Legal Referral Service was created to help our clients in these tough economic times to obtain legal consultation and possible representation.  If you are an attorney and would like to volunteer your time or if you would like to find out more information, call Kelly Goldberg at 248.592.1907.

Builders/Remodelers — Project Build!

Project Build is a joint program between Jewish Family Service (JFS) and the Building Industry Association of Southeastern Michigan (BIA) that matches JFS clients in need of home repairs with member builders, remodelers and suppliers who volunteer to do the repairs on a pro bono basis.  The work involved may range from fixing a broken front step that could cause great injury to an older adult, to a full handicap accessible bathroom remodel for a wheelchair bound adult.  Much of the volunteer work to date has been done by members of BIA’s NAHBR Professional Remodelers Council.  JFS is very appreciative of having the assistance of BIA and its members to help JFS clients live with dignity and safely remain in their homes.

BIA is a trade association formed in 1928 as one of the nation’s first organizations serving the varied interests and needs of home builders.  Politically and legislatively, BIA has a deep tradition of ongoing and meaningful work on behalf of single family and multifamily residential construction, remodeling, and in support of home ownership.  BIA represents home builders, developers, remodelers, light commercial builders, multifamily owners and managers and suppliers to the industry.  It is associated with the National Association of Home Builders and the Michigan Association of Home Builders.  BIA provides the building industry with education, information, programs, networking, political action and all other activities, which advance the building industry and provide housing for all incomes.
