Volunteer with Older
Adults
Friendly
Visitors offer companionship and
support to homebound older adults. Some volunteers market with, or for a client, help
them sort their mail, or respond to telephone messages.
Many volunteers and their clients go to lunch or the mall, walk
or run errands together. A visit once a week, or even twice a
month helps to make our clients feel less isolated.
Time commitment: One hour, one day per
week, or every other week.
Supportive Community
volunteers are
called upon two or three times a year to help our older adult clients
with minor home maintenance, or transportation to and from an outpatient
medical procedure.
Time commitment: Two or three times a year.
Meals On Wheels
volunteers prepare and /or deliver meals to homebound older adults one morning every week.
Time Commitment: Two to three hours, one morning per week.
Hospice
Volunteers provide consolation
and assistance to chronically and terminally ill individuals and their
families to enhance their quality of life throughout their remaining
days.
Time Commitment: Varies, depending on
situation.
Courtesy Drivers
assist
the JFS Transportation Department with one or two rides each
week. Most of the drivers take clients to and from ongoing
medical appointments, such as dialysis.
Time Commitment: Two to four hours, one day per week.
Volunteer
in Administrative Offices
Administrative
Volunteers assist in our Transportation, Meals-on-Wheels, Community
Information Center, Hospice, and Prescription Assistance offices.
Time commitment: Two to
four hours, one day per week.

Professional
Services
Volunteers offer
their professional skills, such as medical, dental, legal, electrical
and plumbing to name a few, on a pro-bono basis for JFS clients.
This program rotates so that no professional is approached more than
once or twice each year.
JFS Mission
Jewish Family Service is
dedicated to helping individuals and families cope, survive and
thrive in an ever-changing world. We are focused on the needs of
the Jewish community, while providing services to all.
