Resource Library

As the population in our local community ages, JFS is working to increase awareness and resource accessibility for caregivers and those needing assistance.  Through community programs and easy access to information, Jewish Family Service hopes to help reduce the stress-related side effects of caregivers providing ongoing, unpaid care to loved ones.

National Association of Area Agencies on Aging
n4a operates the Eldercare Locator, a free national service (800.677.1116, www.eldercare.gov), which links older adults and their family caregivers to aging information and resources in their own communities.  n4a publishes the National Directory of Aging Resources which includes a listing for all Area Agencies on Aging, Title VI grantees and State Units on Aging.

MetLife Mature Market Institute
Provides a downloadable version of “Resources for Caregivers, 2007”, a brochure designed to help individuals and families who have assumed the role of caregiver or anticipate future caregiving.

Generations on Line
Generations on Line is dedicated to enhancing communication among generations by promoting Internet access and literacy to elders.

AssistGuide Information Services
AGIS strives to provide caregivers with free access to the broadest possible range of worthwhile eldercare information.

National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers
A Professional Geriatric Care Managers (PGCM) is a health and human services specialist who helps families who are caring for older relatives. The PGCM is trained and experienced in any of several fields related to long-term care, including, but not limited to nursing, gerontology, social work, or psychology, with a specialized focus on issues related to aging and elder care.

Family Caregivers Online
As a service of the Area Agencies on Aging, this site provides education and resources for caregivers of older adults.

Family Caregiving 101
The site is designed to provide caregivers with the basic tools, skills and information they need to protect their own physical and mental health while they provide high quality care for their loved one. It is also a place for family caregivers to return again and again as new levels of caregiving are reached.

National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys
An association of attorneys in the public and private sector who deal with legal issues affecting seniors.

National Association of Senior Move Managers
A group of professionals who specialize in facilitating a smooth transition for seniors moving from the home into a senior housing community.

Seniors Real Estate Specialists
A designation offered by the National Association of Realtors to agents who specialize in senior real estate services.

The Society of Certified Senior Advisors
A multi-discipline group of professionals who have earned the Certified Senior Advisor designation through specialized education.
