--The Jewish Family Service electronic Family Caregiving Access Network.

On this page you will find useful information of interest to family caregivers.

What is a Family Caregiver?

A family caregiver is simply a family member who provides unpaid care to a loved one – often an older adult. This may involve direct care, or the coordination of home care, medical care, transportation, accompaniment to the doctor's office, bill paying, etc.

As the population in our local community ages, JFS is working to increase awareness and resource accessibility for caregivers and those needing assistance. Through community programs and through this website, Jewish Family Service hopes to help reduce the stress-related side effects of providing ongoing, unpaid care to loved ones.

For more information on Jewish Family Service programs for family caregivers,  call Becky Eizen, FCAN Coordinator, at 248.592.2671, or e-mail beizen@jfsdetroit.org.
