We continue to offer:
Counseling for infertility issues
Support groups for adoptive parents
Post adoption counseling

Adoptees:
Beginning September 12, 1998, any adoptee who will have reached 18 years of age, and whose birth parents terminated their parental rights on or after September 12, 1980, will now be able to obtain the name given to him/her prior to adoptive placement. The adoptee can also obtain other identifying information including names of biological siblings and birth parents. An adoptee will be entitled to this information as long as a birth parent has not filed a statement of denial with the Central Adoption Registry.

Birth parents may contact Anna Donovan at 248-592-2345 for more information, or to make their denials or consents known to the Central Adoption Registry.

Alliance for Adoption

After decades of helping create families throughout Michigan, Jewish Family Service is no longer providing adoption services. It was determined that the original need of Ensuring That Jewish Families Could Adopt Children without Discrimination, is no longer an issue. There has evolved many adoption service providers that offer culturally and religiously competent services. Jewish Family Service will complete all adoption services that are currently underway. We will also continue to help members of adoptive triads that have been helped by JFS in the past. If you have any questions or concerns about this direction please call Perry Ohren, Chief Program Officer, 248-592-2302.
