Funding/Supporters
Jewish Family Service is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the major instrument of Jewish philanthropy and volunteerism in the Detroit area.
Through Federation’s annual fundraising drive, and in partnership with the United Jewish Foundation, Federation raises and allocates funds to provide life-saving and life-enhancing humanitarian assistance to those in need, and to translate Jewish values into social action on behalf of the nearly 72,000 Jews in the Detroit area.
Jewish Family Service is also supported by the Jewish Fund, the Jewish Women’s Foundation and United Way of Southeastern Michigan. Additional funding is provided by the Claims Conference, federal and state grants, individual client fees, insurance reimbursements, and private grants and endowments. JFS receives Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds to assist qualified individuals and families with housing and food needs.
Jewish Family Service is a registered 501c(3) nonprofit, which allows individual donors to contribute financial gifts and in-kind goods and services that are tax-deductible. Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan Detroit is grateful to its many supporters for their financial support, so that we can do our work to support our community.
In addition to private contributions, JFS receives major support from a variety of additional organizations, including:
